Carbon Footprinting
A Carbon Footprint, or Carbon Inventory, measures tons of greenhouse gases (GHG’s) created by an organization. Energy use, transportation and solid waste generation are the primary contributors to the creation of GHG’s. Carbon dioxide and methane make up the majority of GHG’s and are considered to be the primary contributors to global warming.
Identifying and quantifying your Carbon Footprint is necessary to understand the types and magnitude of your environmental impacts. Once defined, this environmental baseline becomes an integral part of your Sustainability Program, aiding in identifying and prioritizing what GHG’s should be reduced.
